Interlibrary Loan
The Wellsburg Public Library participates in statewide sharing of library materials through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). Using SILO ILL, we can borrow items from other Iowa libraries and lend our materials to them as well.
It is free for Wellsburg patrons to request items from other libraries. Loan periods vary depending on the lending library, but most items can be kept for up to 4 weeks. Staff will confirm the due date when materials are picked up.
🚚 IA Shares Delivery System
Beginning August 4, 2025, the State Library of Iowa is partnering with Iowa’s Area Education Agencies (AEAs) to provide van delivery for the IA Shares system used by public libraries statewide.
Here’s how the system works:
-
AEAs use high-capacity ProMaster cargo vans and professional drivers capable of handling the large volume of materials moved through IA Shares.
-
The nine AEAs across Iowa serve as regional hubs.
-
From each hub, delivery routes run daily: drivers drop off totes of incoming materials and pick up outgoing totes for other libraries or the State Library.
-
Items returned to a hub at the end of the route are sorted, then transported between hubs overnight.
-
This process repeats each weekday, ensuring steady, efficient movement of interlibrary loan materials across the state.
📚 How to Request Items
Simply call the library or stop in to share your book or media requests. We’ll search other Iowa libraries and place the request for you.
